HISTORY
In September 2003, the five State of Maryland HBCU/MIs accepted an invitation from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command at Fort Detrick to explore ways in which HBCU/MIs could enhance participation in research at Fort Detrick. The Member Institutions decided to establish the Consortium to respond to research proposals and programs from various federal agencies, including but not limited to, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command.
The Member Institutions include Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Morgan State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Sojourner-Douglass College. Among the five institutions, Morgan State University and Sojourner-Douglass College are the only two institutions that are not constituents of the University System of Maryland. Additionally, Sojourner-Douglass College is the only non-HBCU/MI member institution within the Consortium. |
